ARANSAS PASS -
Aransas Pass is reeling from the killings of a mother and daughter Tuesday night on Highland Avenue.
Officials announced Wednesday that the stepfather, Stephen Dolan, shot his 12-year-old step-daughter, Madelyn Rychetski, and his 47-year-old wife, Brenda Dolan, twice in the chest before turning the gun on himself. The wife died at the scene. The husband and daughter were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Two surviving children were found hiding behind a boat on the property when police arrived.
"We are a very small community," said Sylvia Carrillo, the city manager of Aransas Pass. "That girl did attend our schools."
"We are very tight knit community, and these things do impact us," said Assistant Chief of Police David Perkins.
Stephen Dolan was a member of the Corpus Christi Fire Department.
Aransas Pass officials confirmed that officers were called to the house twice prior to Tuesday's shootings. One call was related to domestic issues and another involved a man drunk at the home.
A memorial organized by the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce will be held Friday at 1:15 pm at Aransas Pass High School football field.
