Couple and adopted child dead in murder-suicide

MEDINA, Ohio Neighbors in a northeast Ohio condominium complex where three people were found dead say they are stunned and baffled.

Police in Medina said the victims are believed to be a married couple and their adopted special-needs child. Police said Sunday they had no updated information on the deaths discovered Friday evening in a suspected murder-suicide case.
According to informal reports, a gun was found clasped in the hands of the 35-year-old man, who had a bullet wound on the forehead.
A message was left Sunday with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's office, which planned autopsies. Authorities weren't sure immediately when and how the deaths occurred.
Neighbors said the family was quiet but friendly, and the couple often walked their dogs together through the Pinewood Estates complex in the city some 30 miles south of Cleveland.
"They always walked hand-in-hand," neighbor Sandra Miller told the Northeast Ohio Media Group. "They seemed very happy, but you never know what goes on inside someone's house."
"This kind of thing is shocking," added Autumn Dawes. "They seemed very happy, but I guess you just never know."
Neighbors said authorities removed two Jack Russell Terriers and a cat, all alive, from the home. The age of the child, who was developmentally disabled, wasn't clear.
Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci declined to say whether police found a weapon inside the condo.
